CINEMATOGRAPHY
Short Film Cinematography
Visual storytelling layers many arts. While directing feels like the ultimate goal, operating the camera and composing the shots are the biggest thrill. I've had the privilege to DP over 7 short films, earning festival submissions and winning Best Cinematography in George Mason University's Film Festival.
EARLY WORKS: FATES ETUDE
First scripted short film
The journey of a young college student who must raise funds for his ever increasing college tuition.

With the help of my literature professor, father, brother, and grandfather, we made this film. I was ambitious and quickly learned just how much I didn't know about filmmaking. Still a classic in it's own way.
SCI-FI CHALLENGES: FLIERS
Learning the Hard Way
A grieving man rediscovers hope on the wings of an inexplicable guest.

Originating from a short story, 'Fliers' was again an ambitious story to put on screen. The use of both practical and special effects were incorporated, as well as my first attempt at lightning, a car chase, acting, and becoming a butterfly wrangler. Yes...a butterfly wrangler.
AWARD WINNING: TRASNOCHADO
Dir. by Reinaldo Arzola and Michael Cacciabaudo
After going through rehab, Silva tries to reconnect with his estranged son Raymond.

Collaborating with Michael and Reinaldo again was a recipe for success. After taking home five awards from the George Mason Fall Showcase (including Best Cinematography, Editing, Drama, Best of Fest, and Audience Award) "Trasnochado" was a finalist for Best Student Short Film at the Red Rose Film Festival as well as an official selection in four other international film festivals.
ADVENTURE FILM: CHOPPED & STACKED
Dir. by Mykael D. Wood
A damaged relationship between father and son is put to the test on a cold day in the mountains.

From 14° weather, rocky terrain, busy mountainside roadways, and a rapidly setting sun this modern day drama provided a lot of challenges. To this day I reflect on the lessons learned on this set. Understanding the behavior of natural light, trusting the directors aesthetic, and a truly free flowing handheld sequence.
Chopped & Stacked has screened in LA and Chicago as well as online film contests.

"Greatest Job I Ever Had"
After spending three years working for the Lower Shore Performing Arts Company (LSPAC) as the lighting designer and operator, I continued my education in storytelling at ESCC. Telling a story through lighting introduced me into the Grip & Electric department. The work in G&E has shaped my understanding of the art of cinematography and career. To create a mood in a film is more than a creative shot. It's a completed picture. I've worked over 30 sets and continue to learn from my experiences in the field.
